How It Started

My Story Begins….

My Background

Ever since 16 years old, I’ve worked in leadership positions in various customer service roles, and have served VIPs.
I love helping people, and I feel a sense of accomplishment when I see their happy faces.

I began my professional career in Human Resources, specialising in engagement programmes, a.k.a making and keeping the employees happy. However, I soon realised that there is a limit to what I can do as I’m always restricted by “more important issues” such as budget and corporate policies.

I thought hard about what my next career step was, and that it will be good if I could marry “career” and “passion” together.

That’s when a lightbulb moment hit me!

My Father with Stage 4 Liver Cancer in Takayama City, Japan

The Moment That Everything Changed

When I was 12 years old (in Primary 6), my Father collapsed at work and was diagnosed with
End-stage Liver Cancer. As a 12 year old, I wasn’t able to understand some things:

Why is my Father spending more time away from home and always in this weird smelling place called the “hospital”?
◊ Why does my Father wear a dress (hospital gown)?
◊ Why is my Father’s hair dropping? He seems to be getting balder day by day.
◊ Why is my Father getting thinner? He seems to need more rest.

These were some of the questions that went through my mind.
I didn’t know what was causing all these. But I knew one thing… I was losing him. Fast.

My Father passed away a few days shy of his 42nd birthday.

Papa’s Foresight

Growing up without a father has its own hardships and whilst it was really hard, I’m thankful that I was able to focus on healing in that area and not worry about other grown-up stuff like finances.

You see, papa was an financial and insurance professional himself, and he got himself well covered. I grew up with sufficient pocket money, I could go for school overseas trips, I could get a laptop when I needed it for polytechnic, and I could get my degree without any loans. My basic necessities were taken care of. My studies were not disrupted. And these were all because of his foresight in insurance and financial planning.

I practically grew up with “Insurance” and it was “Insurance” that gave my family and me a chance to continue on with our lives even without my main breadwinner around.

This is what I am most grateful for.

My Father was a Financial and Insurance Practitioner too!

There are many families who were in my shoes.

But there are even more families who had to:

Continue paying for a loved one’s medical bills, even after that person has passed on

Being torn between receiving the best-quality medical care available and the cost of it

Continue paying the housing loan, even after their loved one has passed on (of which they won't be able to afford to pay)

Sell their family home in order to pay for these bills (and risk not having a place to stay)

Take a study loan with high interests because their parents did not have any savings for them

The remaining parent has to give up sacrifice precious family time to work harder and earn more money for the family expenses

Continuing his Legacy

I want to continue my father’s legacy. To continue to help build relationships and save lives through proper financial planning,
just like how MY life was saved.

I had a comfortable life growing up, thanks to my papa’s planning. And I want to provide the same kind of assurance and life that I had, to my clients and their families.

Last but not the least… while my papa was around, I had the best childhood ever. He has given me so much in those short 12 years. I want to continue doing the same for my own family. To provide the same kind of lifestyle I enjoyed and to give the same kind of love I received.

Everything I do in here, I do it for you papa. Loving you always! ❤️

another day in your life.”
